About
The work combines methods of expanded printmaking, sculpture, and installation to navigate the dataset as it turns from space to place. It approaches the vastness of the dataspace through the mechanics of display. Display systems composed of metal apparata and 3D-printed forms divide the field, reassembling particles into substance.
The materiality of the prints defines the topography, shifting dataspace to dataplace. Prints on clear plastic and translucent paper; pixels on teeny tiny screens; layers and layers, here, help parse the archive into bi(y)te-size pieces.
The question of the work does not concern the content of the dataspace, but its form: how does the chassis of the image vehicle come together? Who builds it, by what manner, matter, means? The content within the work remains momentary and interchangeable, employed only to support the structure, only to populate an environment which invites the body to absorb the now-striated dataplace. The experience asks of the viewer: what does it mean to hold only a piece, to receive only fragments?
